For 32 years (1962-1994) The Diefenbunker protected us from 75 feet underground and we knew virtually nothing about it. Today the Diefenbunker has shed its veil of secrecy to become so much more than a Cold War museum.

It is a reminder of how close we came to a nuclear disaster in 1962, it is a community hub like no other, and it is a physical reminder of a powerful Canadian value: the importance of peaceful conflict resolution as part of a democratic society. There is no other museum like the Diefenbunker.
