Stone Jug in a stone structure rebuilt in 1860 after the fire in 1859. The Stone Jug is rumored to have the first church in North America under the property adding to a vivid history reaching back centuries. There are many claims that the building is haunted as a know duel took place in the building as well as an indentured servant who hung herself in the stairwell in the 1800’s.
Recently renovated and a unique destination in Newfoundland presently used as a Restaurant & Pub with a Theater on the 3rd floor. The Stone Jug has an 85 ft. bar reaching around an open concept kitchen. The kitchen has the worlds largest stone hearth oven used for pizzas and such and also cooks on a 7 ft. wood-fired birch grill using local wood and local fish & game and locally raised meats and organic vegetables.
The Stone Jug has live music on the weekends and many events on many nights in the week.
There is no place on the island that compares with the Stone Jug – we advise you to not miss the chance to visit. It will be the best day of your trip!
